Earth Hour, no Earth Hour - just get the point!

Earth Hour. One of those things in a world full of things people think of to try to either make up for their lack of involvement in their daily lives, or just a simple media opportunity.

The idea is that we all turn off all use of electronic goods, anything that uses energy, for 1 hour to 'cool the globe'. A lot of countries are involved now, and people are really embracing the idea. However, it's not perfect, like everything else.

There are many that oppose to it, saying that it's just another useless thing that make people think they are doing something when they really aren't. 1 hour of no electricity isn't going to make global warming go away and that it's just another marketing ploy for certain ideals or organisations.

It's true. Those who think they are supporting the greated clause of the world, just like those who supported the global warming concert or the green bags - may have got the wrong ideas. Sometimes supporting these things are becoming a trend, and people get pulled into these ideas, making them think that simply by attending a concert, or buying a reuseable bag or by turning their lights off for an hour, is actually doing 'something' - unfortunately if you don't follow these ideas through in your daily lives, it isn't doing anything at all.

I happen to support the idea of Earth Hour. Remember, it's an IDEA. It's meant to educate and raise awareness of a simpler life that would actually help the world as well, it gives people sometime to reflect on their actions. What everyone of us forget, is that outside the idea, we actually have to live it as well.

Although, there is no real reason to oppose to the idea. Yes, it doesn't do anything, and yes it's not a solution, but do you have a better idea? Things do not happen over night, and ideas need to get adapted to. It's simply a start of getting the idea into everyone's lives - unless you have a better idea that is feasible, then perhaps you should join in and learn.
