The Labor Incest

It's all over the weekend paper. The show down at Iguana's with (ex?) Education Minister John Della Bosca and his wife Belinda Neal, a federal MP has sparked new discussions about the Labor party. Poor Morris. Like he hasn't got enough on his hands to worry about already.

The Weekend Australian ran an opinion piece about the way Labor party had formed, and how many hubby/wife combinations there are making it quite an "incestuous" organisation, saying that it's all formed by family and friends and the who knows who in politics, keeping large powers at play.

Boy, were they harsh about this whole issue, but let's not forget - so are we all!

Most companies and organisations are about who knows who. Many of us get our jobs because we know someone in the company. You have sons and daughters working in the same field in the same company as their parents because they were brought up in the environment and hence made similar career decisions. And as most of us spend more time at work than home these days, you end up meeting your significant other at work and end up marrying someone from the same company and more often than not, you have three generations of a family working under the same organsation's roof.

And you think the Labor party had it bad? Companies these days 'invite' their employees to refer someone they know so they don't have to pay the advertising cost, they even compensate you for it, paying as much as $2000 per referral should the person they have referred gain employment at the company. They don't like outsiders, they like people that knows people. So what's wrong with it happening in politics? Just because they are public figures doesn't mean they must do things differently. After all, we are all only human, and we'll all want to have relationship with like minded people (politicians love politicians, IT nerds love IT nerds... etc) so what's there to criticise?

Also - the whole point is: what does this all have to do with the Iguana incident? Anyone can blow up at a waiter and anyone can have a case of requiring anger management. Why bring politics into it? Sack the minister and his wife for being so self important and get on with some real news.

The Lost Tribes

They've apparently discovered some lost tribes of the world in the heart of the Brazilian Amazon.
I am surprised that such areas of the world still exist, areas where the advancement of human technology have not yet touched and the non-sense of civilisation have tainted.

They are petitioning to have these people left alone, which is good. They should be left alone. Look at what the rest of 'colonisation' have left us - a world of hatred and war. Leave these guys alone.

However I know that there are certain people in this world that just can't leave people alone, and eventually they'll be sought after for tourism or other means of money gabbing businesses.
