Budgie smugglers, otherwise more commonly known in the world as just 'speedos' is hot topic in Australia. Not because it's 'hot'. On the contrary, Australians in general consider it disgusting or even offensive to be wearing these swim wear at the beach. It apparently reveals too much.
So un-cool isn't it? Even if we seem to be the only nation that thinks so. A well travelled person will probably notice that it is only in Australia that this speedo wearing attitude exist. Every where else in the world it's just a normal swim wear.
As to revealing too much? Then us females should also be banned from wearing skimpy bikinis. Some of them really reveal too much.
Talk about social contradictions.
Leave the budgie smugglers be. It takes a real man to wear it with pride.
Just my 2 cents.

On women's achievements
I am not a feminist. Hell no. But I really do doubt any woman who say that having their child is the best thing (and the best achievement) in their life.
Really? Honestly?
I mean, I can understand that it is an extraordinary event to have to carry a child for 9 months, endure the pain and the discomfort and the immobility and the break from a career so that life's miracle can happen to add a few more human beings in the world. But to call it the BEST THING that has ever happened in one's life is a bit of an overstatement.
What about getting your university degree? What about opening your own business? What about the year spent seeing the world? Are these experiences never to compare? What about something that you have done and no other women has achieved? Are they not the best thing or the best achievements in your lives?
If you've had a child and still managed to win a gold medal at the Olympics, or still managed to climb Mount Everest, volunteered at a remote community, created a successful business: THESE are the achievements to be proud of.
Just having a child? Is just part of nature. Majority of the women are equipped to do it. What is the bit deal?
Just my 2 cents.

C'mon City Rail. At least give us a reason to pay more for your services!
I've just read an article on how CityRail is improving their lines to make their service more reliable, when the announcement came two minutes before train was due to depart: "Due to a signalling problem between Central and Redfern, this service has been delayed indefinitely. This is affecting all services leaving Central towards Redfern and we will update you on the progress."
Darn. I was about to smile and nod to the article. Now I am just another stranded customer waiting to get home from a long day at work.
And it is not the first time. Delayed and cancelled services are a regular occurance.
It's been bugging me for ages. Growing up in Sydney I have utilised the city's public transport network for more than 10 years. A return ticket from the same station to Central about only 5 years ago used to cost roughly around $5 during peak hours. Now they cost more than $10.
Yes, times have changed and thing are indeed more expensive.... however I fail to understand how is it that we are not paying more than double for a service that has not seen one little bit of improvement over the years??
The monkeys are evolving faster than City Rail. It's a disgrace.
On one hand, the government is urging people to use the public transport to ease the traffic and be good for the environment. On the other hand, you just don't trust the public transport to get you to where you want to be on time and without any problems.
How is it that we can call ourselves a first world, technology savvy country, when our public transport system is nothing compared to cities such as Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Taipei and even Bangkok (not to mention almost ALL European cities and their super effecient public transport system). How is it a city like Sydney is behind cities that have only been developing for the past decade?
I don't mind paying the price for a good service. I pay more for a better cup of coffee at a proper cafe than at McCafe. I pay for a better hotel if I knew I could get a better night's sleep and get a decent, included breakfast the next morning. But regular price rises (watch out, another one will be coming our way in July) without justification is just beyond logic.
